Advanced Renamer 4.27 – Start with an empty method list
Hello,
I would like to configure Advanced Renamer 4.27 so that the method list is empty every time I start the program. I want to add the methods I need for each session individually, while keeping all my saved projects unchanged.
When I close the program, I do not want to be asked whether changes to the empty startup project should be saved.
How can I configure the program to behave this way?
Thank you for your assistance.
Kind regards

Some of this is coming with version 4.28.

Hi Hubert,
The upcoming version 4.28 should take care of the second part of your question (and Kim has said it should be out in about 10 days). The first part, starting with an empty method list: I don't think that's possible unless you go in to the settings folder and modify file(s). I can't help you with that, and wouldn't if I could, but I can offer a work-around that may or may not help you:
Whatever method you tend to use more, open that. Make sure it's set up like you like it, but with nothing in the actual fields. Save it as a project. Open that project every time you start ARen.
Like I say, it may not be to your liking but it is a way to start with an (more or less) empty project every time.
Best,
DF

Yes, I do this and it works better than the current 4.27 behavior.
Save a completely blank project:
1) Click "New project".
2) Save as "Blank, Release" -- which you absolutely can do. Note that the ", Release" is just part of my naming conventions.
3) IMPORTANT: Set the properties of "Blank, Release.aren" to read-only or you *WILL* accidentally overwrite it. ;)
Then set your main Aren shortcut to "Target:":
"C:\Program Files\Advanced Renamer\ARen.exe" "C:\{YOUR PATH}\Blank, Release.aren"
Aren will open the blank project every time you start it via that shortcut.
It's not perfect and I don't use it for my "Send to" shortcuts but it helps.
Regards,
Randy

Cool, Randy, I never thought of saving a blank project. Although I still prefer opening a blank script method, since that's what I use on pretty much everything except forum problems. But that's a great work-around fer sure! :)
You could also pin the .aren file to the taskbar as opposed to using a shortcut...
