After 3.95 another version with Folder Panel at Right side
Hello everyone !
After using version 4.17 I can't get used to it,
Previously I used 3.95 and except for some bugs, I had already gotten used to it
Especially with folder panel on the right side
The truth is that version 4.17 costs me a lot of time to rename files. Maybe it's too new for me!
And my question is if there any other newer version at 3.95 with the Folder panel at right side and stable ?
Thank you so much

Hi George,
Version 3.95 seems very stable to me. I use it a lot when writing javascript because it often has more diagnostically-oriented error messages, which I need. Also it's the only way for me to save a new batch from scratch (due to my system, not ARen). Are you sure you are using the latest version, as is offered in the "Download / Older versions" section?
As to the "Folders panel" I'm struggling to understand what you are looking for. If you click the "Add / Folders" button in the menu you get essentially the same popup panel in both v3 and v4. Unless I just don't get what you are asking about, which is always a distinct possibility. :)
Maybe Kim or someone else can provide you more information, but my advice would be to put a little more effort into learning version 4 - it has some really nice features that, to me, make it well worth the effort.
Best,
DF

When I think about it, most programs have the folder panel on the left side. Windows Explorer and VS Code have the folder panel on the left side. The same goes for most image viewers. Also browsers have the bookmarks folders on the left side. Spotify have the playlist panel on the left side. Other batch renamers also have the folder panel on the left. One could argue that having it on the left is the most intuitive. I could add an option to move the whole side panel to the right, but some might still want the methods on the left side, so I would have to also solve that problem, and then we end up with many UI configurations, which increases the complexity and the risc of bugs.
Right now, I don't have any desire to change the current layout. I don't say I will never do it, but for now I like it how it is.
Maybe you could just open a Windows Explorer window on the right side of Advanced Renamer and drag and drop from there?

If that's exactly what I'm doing,
The thing is that after so much time using version 3.95, it's hard for me to get used to it.
Thank you so much

True, old habits are difficult to change. The muscle memory can be very strong.
Any change can be difficult. When Apple removed the magnetic charger from MacBooks, people were furious. When they reintroduced it years later, just as many people was mad about the "new" charger, not understanding the need for an additional charger technology.
