Reset Preset list?
Is it possible to reset the Preset list in the dropdown menu.
I've recently deleted quite a few from the containing folder, but they still show in dropdown.
Also, is it possible to fix the list permanently, so the the first in the list is always first, the second always second etc. Currently, it appears the last preset selected becomes the first.
Ta.
Ah, never mind, I found it in the 'data' folder.
But whilst trying to delete the list, I had the bright idea of re-installing 4.16. Big mistake, I have problems every time I try to install this program because as i;ve previously mentioned, it wants to shut down windows explorer.exe. Now I have to try and it it to the 'open with' menu manually.
Ho Hum.

I can't tell. Do you still have an open question about this? ;)
There is a hidden "Clear" option in the drop-down menu itself.

ETA: As for shutting down the explorer, I've noticed that ARen installer does not (always) do this well And, at least once, failed to restart explorer.exe.
And I generally don't let programs do this as it scrambles the taskbar. (But I always make a note and restart explorer or reboot, myself, as soon as I conclude my current task(s). )
Just tell the program no. Then either restart explorer.exe yourself or reboot at your leisure.
As near as I can tell, Aren only needs/requests the shutdown so that the context-menu item that it adds will be correct. This is usually not even a concern if you are merely upgrading from one sub-version to another. EG 4.16 -> 4.18.

Randy

Thanks Randy, I don't see those options in 4.16, but nice to know they're in 4.17!
As I say, deleting the entries in the user/data folder did the trick for me on 4.16.

As far as I remember, if you try to open a preset that no longer exists, it will be removed from the list. That way you can clean up the list.
In version 4.17 you get an option to clear the list directly in the program. You just have to click the "More" menu item first.
If you have activated the explorer context menu in program settings, a fresh install will require the restart of Windows Explorer. This should happen without issues, but Explorer has always had its quirks when it comes to restarts. If you experience this issue, you can choose to disable the context menu before updating, uninstall the old version of Advanced Renamer before updating, or restart Windows manually. You can also try out the latest version, in which I have tried to configure the installer to not overwrite the file responsible for the right click explorer menu, unless there is a change to this file, which is very rare. But that might not have an effect until you update again after first install of version 4.18.
