Thanks, Kim, for version 4.28
Lots of promising changes that I've noticed with this version.
Already just not having that save-project popup spamming me is such a blessing.
And not sure when this happened but it looks like new-project setting values, like "Lower case words for title case" do now default to the program's settings? If so, awesome.
The script import feature looks very propitious too.
Regards,
Randy

The list of changes for version 4.28 is long. There are also some changes that are not reflected in the version log, because they were too technical or too minor to describe. Many changes are based on user feedback.
I will start development of 4.29 next week. I still have a lot of ideas.

Hi guys,
Point of clarification: When scripts are loaded into a project, do they work like a pre-pre-batch script? In other words, are they available to all scripts in the project and only loaded once (like Randy has been asking for)? If so that's *really* awesome. I'm not sure how else they would work, but I just want to make sure.
Not that it makes a difference to me right now--when I click on the "Add" button nothing happens (and so I can't test it out yet). I assume Add scripts uses a Windows-standard popup window, since those seem to be what won't appear on my system. But when I get a new computer I want to be ready! :)
And for some reason "Overwrite [project] has started working for me in this version! I love it. I had to do a little rewriting of one script because the <ExifTool:warning> tag is no longer visible, but that's ok, there's actually a better way to get what was showing there. And everything else looks like winning stuff!
Best,
DF

Hi DF,
Yes, the imported scripts are available to all script methods. But there are some quirks and bugs.
Scripts seem to be (re)loaded only when:
A) The project is first loaded
B) A script method is added or deleted
C) A script method's checkbox is toggled.
The latter makes for a bit of a workaround.
But we really need a Project reload or revert to disk button. And not just for Projects with scripts.
And it would be nice if files were re-imported when they were changed on the file system. This would really make integrating with VS Code (or any other editor) 90% perfect.
Also there's some buggy behavior.
Suppose you have a file echo.js that contains:
function echo (str) {console.log (`you say, "${str}", v4`)}
Add two script methods to the project:
Script 1:
echo ("Foo");
Script 2:
echo ("Bar");
You will see separate Log buttons for each script method.
But each Log will only show "you say, "Bar", v4" !
So there is no consolidated log -- which is not a problem.
But the first script's operation is getting corrupted by the second's!
I don't have time to experiment with this or to refactor my existing projects. It still seems like a big step in the right direction.

Heck, I'm so happy to be able to overwrite projects directly, nothing can spoil my good mood... I've written a couple of new projects today to do some disk/folder/file management I've been putting off, and I even got inspired to write a python proggie to collect what I needed to rearrange into a text file for loading into ARen. I guarantee you won't see me writing python every day, so that's an indication of how much fun I was having!
I'm not too worried about the log corruption thing, I've written a lot of batches with multiple scripts but in the end I've always pared them down to one script--one way or another.
And like you said, not having to click each time I close a project can save me so much time (and SO much aggravation) most days.
I just found the <Num Files> tag so getting that into the parent folder is now sorted... I'm just missing access to dimensions of pics inside folders. And of course everything else I've wished for on the fider wishlist... :) Nah, I'm happy, Kim, don't think your hard work isn't appreciated. Like you say in the registration popup: YOU're the best! :)
Cheers!
