I just created a Method for my project. How do I save it as a Preset?

Ahh. Thank you, Styb! I knew it had to be something simple. I spent a great deal of time trying to find the answer in the manual -- so it must be well hidden. It was discouraging, though, when I tried to save it (by clicking the "disc"), to get the message: "C:Program Files\Advanced Renamer\BatchMethods\XXX.aren. You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission." It offered to save it in my main User folder instead. I don't like saving things in odd places where they don't belong. I find it hard to track them down when I have to. If I (administrator) don't have permission to save it to my "Advanced Renamer" folder, who does? Anyway, I saved it in my User folder since it gave me no choice. It just seems to me it should be in the folder with the pre-existing .arens. :( Thank you again, though. I'm a new "Advanced Renamer" user, and I can see that it's going to be invaluable! -Peg |

I know it's been a while since you posted this. The error message about not having permission to save in that specific location is due to Windows protecting all (sub)folders in the "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" folders. That is where all your apps (programs) are installed. They are protected in order to block malware from infecting one of your apps. This is not the case if you use the portable version in a separate folder like in example "PortableApps". You can however change the security settings from a folder like the "BatchMethods" if you want to have access to and be able to put your own methods in that folder. Still it is more secure to just put them in a user folder. Just create a folder like "RenamerMethods" in your user folder and store the *.aren files in there. It's safer and easier to make them part of a backup system. Have a nice day. |
