Hi, New but very impressed user looking for a way to optimize my workflow on a large project.
I am currently using AR to find all image files by file type on a source HD and batch copying them to a target folder, creating a large source pool of all images. Then, using several steps, I identify images that have metadata for "camera model" and move these files into subfolders named for the "camera model" of the images in the pool before other processing. How difficult would it be to use AR to not only find all image files, but to also create a subfolder in the target folder named for the "metadata:camera model data" and move such files into that folder? Any suggestions that could put me on a path to figure it out would be a huge help. Thanks! |

Hi John, As long as you get the information from a tag, you can use that tag as a subfolder name in the "Output field:" of the copy or move Batch mode. I'm assuming you get your metadata from ExifTool, so the <ExifTool:Make> or <ExifTool:Model> or whatever you are using would create or use a subfolder of the same name. If there is no info in the tag your file will end up in the parent directory, so nothing breaks. Here's a screengrab of my test for you: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1goDIVysXfjB4YVF QdVaxcErlEXt4F4Gc/view?usp=drive_link Best regards from Texas, DF |

I'm retired and live in the country. It's either talk to y'all or talk to the goats, cows, chickens and feral hogs. :) Seriously, without the efforts of others on this forum previously (and currently Styb, Miguel, Kim and others) I wouldn't be able to help. I'm just paying it backwards... Cheers! DF |

Got to say, I'm envious of your lifestyle in the country with the animals, especially these crazy days! I can see and appreciate the effort of all of you that make this forum friendly and extremely helpful. Your hint for generating the subfolders with the metatag via the output field is golden... just had time to give it a try... works perfectly and you have no idea the time it will save me! Looking forward to getting better acquainted with AR as I am beginning to see it as a remarkable tool for many things that I do. Thank you! |
