Moving only files matching the Regex

Hi,

I've just had to re-install windows.

In my previous install, I could apply my (Renaming Methods List) to a set of files, and it would highlight the files that matched that criteria.

I was sure I could then select Batch->Move

..and it would only rename & move the files matching the (Renaming Methods List) .

Now, it seems to want to move everything, and even attempt to rename files which do not properly match my regex string.

I want to move only the highlighted files (that match my Renaming method) and leave all the others where they are in the list, so i can use a different Renaming method.

Is there a setting i'm missing?

Thanks.

EDIT: I've just seen something in the latest version which does what i want (more or less!)

Remove items from the list based on special conditions

Is there a way to make this a tickbox option, ie always on, or always off?

Thanks.

Hi Kath, welcome back,

The only thing I can think of is that, if you drag and drop only folders into the files list you get a panel that allows you to specify conditions for files you want to load. In it you can be quite specific, loading only files that meet (or don't meet) your exact needs.

You may already know this, but if not it could be useful in your situation.

I hope this helps!

Best,
DF

Hi,

"Remove items from the list based on special conditions"

Is a right-click menu in the latest version (which I had trouble installing btw!). I was just asking if it could be made a simple switch on the main UI. It still doesn't do exactly what I want., but it's close.

The way you state does 'kind' of work also. Maybe it's just my poor REGEX's!

I did previously spend some time 'learning' simple REGEX, and created some templates, but lost them all during the re-install :)

Now I'll have to re-learn!

Ta.

Oops, forgot what the original question was. My bad. Wish I could delete this. :)
