Hello

Photo: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/03vp7wxtfbzqn5i87 5xu8/eddie-name.jpg?rlkey=w42lsjdympjrt6 myebvju0kow&st=caj1yxzn&dl=0

I want to know how I get a 'name and a number' like above. But I want one less zero (0)

Also, how would I add files that begin with 300.jpg?

Eddie 300.jpg

Thank you
Mark

Look under "Settings / Renaming" in the menu and make sure "Use zero padding in Inc Nr tags" is checked.

Question 1:
Add a "New name" method and in the "New name:" field insert "Eddie <IncNr:01>" (without quotes)

Question 2:
Change the <IncNr:01> above to <IncNr:300>

You'd do well to study the User Guide on the Renumber method, as well, in case you have files already numbered (more complicated than the examples above). And the section on Default Tags can tell you more about the Incrementing tags above, plus some others.

Best,
DF

Mark,
I have no idea what you are asking. You included a bunch of screenshots that showed the same files and renamed results. What are you asking? I told you how to do what you want.

What do you mean by "all that"?

Best,
DF

Hello Delta,
thanks for replying.

My question is 'How do I add images onto an existing list of images / files?

In this example, here are images I want to add to the list:

image 332.jpg
ty372.jpg
225.jpgomes
8493.jpg

In Advanced Renamer, I use 'start batch, and I will have . . .

eddie 008.jpg
eddie 009.jpg
eddie 010.jpg
eddie 011.jpg

I add these files to the other files (shown in the image above) and the final list is . . .

eddie 001.jpg
eddie 002.jpg
eddie 003.jpg
eddie 004.jpg
eddie 005.jpg
eddie 006.jpg
eddie 007.jpg
eddie 008.jpg
eddie 009.jpg
eddie 010.jpg
eddie 011.jpg

How is that done?

Thanks
Mark

PS: When I say 'all that', I'm refering to all the characters in the link that I posted, from Google.

This string would be so much easier to post:

Hi Mark,

Do they need to be in that order? In other words, do you need to have

8493.jpg ----> eddie 011.jpg ?
image332.jpg ----> eddie 008.jpg ?

because the files don't sort that way when sorting by filename, so unless you can sort on something like the creation date or modified date, that's not the order they'll get named. When I add those files I get

225.jpgomes
8493.jpg
image 332.jpg
ty372.jpg

which is the order they will be renumbered. I mean, you can reverse sort and renumber them the other way, but otherwise the best I can to (without knowing your create or modify dates) the only way I know of to get them in that exact order is to drag each file in, one after the other, in the order you want them..

Anyway, other than that little problem, it's easy to do what you want. Like I told you before, first make sure that you have "Options / Settings / Renaming / Use zero padding in Inc Nr tags" CHECKED. Then drag your files from Explorer to the Files list area, however you want to do that.

Next, add a NEW NAME method to the Method list on the left. That should be the only method active. Fill it in exactly like this (without the quotes):

New name: "eddie <IncNr:008>"

If you look at the "New Filename" column you should see your files as they will be renamed, "eddie 008.jpg", "eddie 009.jpg", etc. I don't know if the "225.jpgomes" was just a typo or not, but if you need to change some extensions just add a REPLACE method and fill it like this:

Replace: *
Replace with: jpg
(no boxes checked, but make sure the "Apply to:" field is set to "Extension".

That will set all your filename extensions to "jpg".

If the "New Filename" preview is to your liking go ahead and click "Start batch" and your files will be done. Don't forget if you mess up you an undo the batch very easily and try again.
