Hi,
I’m experiencing a recurring crash with Advanced Renamer version 4.07 on macOS 15.2. The application terminates unexpectedly either immediately after opening or sometimes after adding files. However, the issue usually happens right after launching the app. Restarting the app resolves the problem temporarily, as the crash doesn’t occur twice in a row. This issue has also occurred in previous versions of Advanced Renamer, so it’s not new to version 4.07. From the crash report, it seems the issue may be related to rendering operations (CoreImage and NSAlert). The crash occurs with the following exception: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGABRT). https://drive.google.com/file/d/19go6MOmTP-kPmvw xK_AcgHH2dxph1MYw/view?usp=sharing Steps to reproduce: 1. Open the application (crashes most often occur immediately after launch). 2. Occasionally, crashes also happen after adding files, but this is less common. Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue? Thank you in advance for your help! |

I have experienced this issue before, but it is very rare. Sometimes when you start the program, it will crash the first time your drag and drop files, resize the main window, or open another window. Restarting the program solves the problem, and in my experience, it will not crash again for days. I don't know why it sometimes becomes unstable on startup on macOS. There might not even be anything I can do to fix it. Because it happens so rarely, I cannot predictably reproduce the issue and that makes it very hard to fix. I am not using 15.2 myself yet, so I don't know if this version of macOS is more unstable compared to 14.7. I do test the program in a virtual machine running version 15. There is something I would like for you to test out. Try turning off automatic check for software updates in the settings window. It's a long shot, but it will give the program one less thing to do during startup. You can also try removing all renaming methods before closing the program. |
