Hello All,
Is there anyway to sort your pictures by Date Taken and rename in sequence? I want to play the pictures in slide with Time taken but the filename are messed up. Thanks Kuljinder |

Hi Kuljinder, That's not a lot of information to go on, but I can give you a few ideas. Have you looked at the "Datetime Created" tags in the user guide? https://www.advancedrenamer.com/user_guide/v4/ta gs_datetimecreated You might be able to use <Date Created:yyyy-mm-dd> and <Time Created:hh-nn-ss> to add to the filename, if your files' timestamps are accurate. I would use a "New name" method and enter: <Date Created:yyyy-mm-dd> <Time Created:hh-nn-ss> <Name> That will put the date and time in front of the filename already there. If the dates and times are ok that will allow you to sort the files in file explorer or an image management program for use in the slideshow. If that doesn't work you may be able to use a date from metadata. On the far left of the ARen window, click on the big "i" button and you can search metadata or exif data for "date", then copy the ones that best suit your needs. You could use them in the New name method as above. Oh, the button above the "i" takes you back to your method list, by the way. Once you get the dates/times in the filename you can always set the files' "created" timestamps to store the correct information. (See the user guide on the Timestamp method: https://www.advancedrenamer.com/user_guide/v4/me thod_timestamp and look at "Filename pattern / Parent folder pattern" down the page). If you do that you can even remove the date/time from the filename, if you wanted to, and just use the timestamps to sort your files in the correct order. If none of that works I'm out of ideas. Let us know, and maybe we can figure something else out. Or if I didn't answer your question because I didn't understand, of course! :) Best, good luck, DF |

Hello everyone, Another way to achieve the result is to add a specific column to the list layout, for example you can add the Date Taken column to sort your files however you like. To do this, add your images to the program's file list and right-click on the column header: you will find the Taken Date column to add to the list layout. Click on this new header column to sort your images. At this point, you can choose a suitable method for renaming the files, for example the "Add" method: Add: <Inc Nr:1>_ (you can use an underscore or a space or any other character to separate the initial number from the rest of the filename) At index: 1 Apply to: Name See the following image https://i.postimg.cc/gjJB2Z4p/img82.png |

Good one, Styb! :) One note: the Date Taken and a lot of others usually aren't visible with just a right-click. After right-clicking, click the "More button at the bottom of the pop-up. Then there's a bleep-ton of options on the left (inactive) that can be moved to the right side and activated and positioned. I assume Date Taken and the other date/time fields can be formatted now, like the "standard" date fields, right? Cheers! DF |

Hi DF, you need to right click on the column header after adding files. this will populate the left side of the column window with several new items. I think you are referring to this. Regards from Italy. :) |

hmmm... Not sure what I'm missing here, but when I right-click on the column header I get this popup: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ljk6gz0BUNtoibJ f_UeRVWgep7MV4Sz2/view?usp=drive_link It doesn't seem to matter if the list is populated or not. I have to click on the "More..." button at the bottom of that popup to get the big one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18gjlBIA5SM5o3Zi OssAJE7yLnhxTTUVM/view?usp=drive_link where I can browse and add other columns like DateTaken. Is your setup different? Cheers from Texas, partner! :) |
