Translations
To create or update language files for Advanced Renamer, you need a program for translating .po files. There are
several to choose from, but the recomnmended one is Poedit.
It is free and is supported on both Windows and Mac.
When you have the program installed, you need to download the translation template file for Advanced Renamer. If you need to update an existing language file, you also need to download the existing language file. When you have the .po file open, you need to update it with the new phrases from the .pot template file. In POEdit you do that by clicking Translation -> Update from POT file.

Testing language file
When you save your language file, the program will also create a .mo file. The .mo file is the compiled version of the .po file and is the file that Advanced Renamer uses. Place it in the language folder of Advanced Renamer and start the program.Folder location
Windows: FolderOfProgramExecutable\Lang\
Mac: Advanced Renamer.app\Contents\Resources\LANGUAGEID.lproj
Note, on Mac, to access the content of the .app file, right click the .app file and select "Show Package Contents".
Note
If any phrases include something like %s or %d it is very important to also include these special values in the translated text. They are placeholders for values supplied by Advanced Renamer at runtime. If any of these are omitted the program will fail when using this text phrase.
